Starting his career in financial services in 1988, Stephen brings over three decades of experience across financial advice, investment, and financial planning to his role.
Having spent many years working as an independent financial adviser, Stephen went on to broaden his experience through involvement in private equity and business development projects. Indeed, few advisers can match Stephen’s combination of advisory and commercial experience, which gives him a particularly well-rounded perspective when helping clients consider both their personal finances and their wider long-term objectives. Along the way, he has developed a particular interest in estate planning, including wills, trusts, and inheritance tax planning.
This varied background allows Stephen to take a genuinely broad view of his clients' financial circumstances, recognising the importance of bringing investment, retirement, protection, and estate planning together as part of a coherent, long-term financial strategy.
Stephen believes that effective financial planning begins with understanding people rather than products. He takes the time to get to know his clients, their families, their aspirations, and the things that matter most to them before considering making any recommendations.
His approach is centred on clear, practical, and straightforward guidance, helping clients to make informed financial decisions without unnecessary complexity or jargon.
Stephen has a particular interest in working with clients who are approaching or already enjoying retirement. He helps them bring together their pensions, investments, and wider financial arrangements so that these work effectively to support their desired lifestyle, while also considering the preservation and eventual transfer of wealth to future generations.
Above all, Stephen places immense importance on developing long-lasting, collaborative client relationships built on trust, openness, personal service, and a genuine commitment to his clients' financial wellbeing. His aim is to give clients clarity and confidence about their financial future, while remaining alongside them as their circumstances and priorities evolve.
Stephen lives in Kent with his wife, Alison, and they have five grown-up children.
Outside work, music plays an important part in his life. He enjoys composing and producing music and has a particular passion for musical theatre, an enthusiasm rooted in his first-class honours degree in drama and performing arts.
Stephen is also an enthusiastic footballer, still turning out for 5-a-side each week. When not working or playing sport, Stephen enjoys travelling and, above all, spending time with family and friends.
