Garth holds the Level 4 Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning and is fully qualified to provide independent financial advice in the UK. He believes that great financial advice is never static, which is why he continues to invest in his own development and is currently working towards Chartered status with the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII); a reflection of his ongoing commitment to the advice he gives his clients.
For Garth, professional development is about more than qualifications. It is about continually strengthening his knowledge and ensuring that the advice he provides remains thoughtful, relevant and genuinely valuable to his clients.
Garth brings a varied and distinctive background to his role as an independent financial adviser. His experience within financial services has given him particular expertise in retirement planning, pensions and building strong, long-term relationships with clients. He is known for taking the time to understand the person behind the numbers and for providing advice that is thorough, considered and genuinely personal.
Before joining the profession, Garth spent several years working closely with high-net-worth individuals, helping them navigate some of the most important financial decisions of their lives. Earlier in his career, he was a helicopter pilot in South Africa, a role that required precision, composure and the ability to make calm, well-considered decisions under pressure.
Those qualities continue to influence the way Garth approaches financial planning today. He brings a methodical and measured approach to complex decisions, while ensuring that clients always feel listened to, supported and comfortable with the choices they are making.
The combination of aviation and financial services gives Garth a somewhat different perspective on financial planning and wealth management, alongside a steady, relationship-focused approach that his clients value.
Garth specialises in retirement planning, helping clients make informed decisions with clarity and confidence as they approach and move into retirement. He primarily works with people in their fifties and sixties, supporting them in areas such as pension consolidation, retirement income and drawdown, and longer-term financial planning as they think through what the next chapter of life looks like.
Having made the move from South Africa to London himself, Garth also has a particular connection with South Africans who have settled in the UK. Many arrive feeling behind on their pension planning or simply unsure how the UK retirement system works, particularly when they don't know whether they're on track or where to begin. Garth enjoys making that process simpler, providing clear guidance, structure and reassurance along the way.
That shared experience often helps him build particularly strong and trusted relationships with South African clients, while his approach remains the same for everyone: listen carefully, understand what really matters to clients and create a clear plan for their future.
Whatever stage of the journey a client is at, Garth brings the same care, precision and long-term perspective to every relationship. His aim is simple: to ensure clients feel confident in their financial decisions and genuinely understood and supported along the way.
Away from work, Garth enjoys keeping active and making the most of spending time outdoors. He is a keen golfer and enjoys the atmosphere of live sport, particularly rugby and football.
Despite making his home in London, South Africa remains an important part of Garth's life, and he makes the trip back most years to spend time with family. He also loves travelling and discovering new coastal spots whenever he has the opportunity to escape the city and properly switch off.
Time with family and friends is a big part of Garth's life, as is his enduring passion for aviation and helicopters: a love that has never quite left him since his flying days.
